After graduating with an engineering degree from USC, Emil Fish began his career with the Bechtel Corporation. In 1960, he left Bechtel to establish Fish Construction Co., Inc., a real estate development and construction company based in Los Angeles, CA. Initially, the company developed tracts and built single-family and multifamily homes in the San Fernando Valley and surrounding areas.

In 1968 Mr. Fish built his first skilled nursing facility in Sylmar, California, a 218-bed facility. Subsequently, he built and/or acquired numerous other such facilities in Southern California.

Providence Square

As one of the original pioneers in the assisted living sector in Southern California, Mr. Fish created Regency Park Senior Living, Inc., which is the largest owner and operator of assisted living communities in Pasadena, California. Regency Park currently owns and/or operates five independent, assisted living and memory care communities.

Over the past 50 years, Mr. Fish has continued to develop prestige properties of varying types throughout Southern California as well as in Virginia and Connecticut. He brings an expertise in master planning large properties through zoning and land development to achieve the highest and best use. Mr. Fish’s projects have included award-winning single-family homes, condominiums and apartment projects, commercial office projects, and senior living communities.

Emil Fish has been active in local and national educational/charitable organizations for over 45 years. He served as President for Hillel Hebrew Academy for many years and was on the original Board of Directors that established the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, California. As a Holocaust Survivor of Bergen Belsen Concentration Camp and native of Bardejov, Slovakia, in 2005 Emil Fish established The Jewish Preservation Committee to preserve the Jewish memory and heritage of approximately 3000 Jewish residents of Bardejov that were killed in the Holocaust. In 2012, Mr. Fish built a Memorial in Bardejov for its victims. On November 10, 2009, President Barack Obama appointed Mr. Fish to the United States Commission for the Preservation of American’s Heritage Abroad, a commission on which he continues to serve with distinction to this day.

Among his numerous achievements, he is most proud of his 3 children and 12 grandchildren.
